Blog-2Tommy, Vincie and Michi lead the Marblehead fleet on the downwind leg in Kiel.

The Marblehead Trophy was donated by the city of Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA in 1929. Once a year each invited yacht club is entitled to compete for this trophy with only one team. It is the duty and honour for the defender’s yacht club to compete with others for this prestigious Trophy.

As Tommy Muller has made this trophy “his own” over the past 4 years it was the privilege of the NRV (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein) Yacht Club to host this years event. The races were held in Kiel-Stande in conjunction with the Kieler Yacht Club from 9th to 11th August, in superb sailing conditions.

20 Teams representing a variety of yacht club’s participated, with each sailor extremely keen to win this Trophy, thus being able to take it proudly back to their “own” Yacht Club’s for one year. It is an event that should be prioritised on each Dragon Owner’s diary each year and Tommy hopes more will attend in 2014. I for sure will be asking for an invitation to take part next year….
