Its a glorious evening here in Kinsale and the competitors and officials of the Brewin Dolphin Dragon Gold Cup 2012 are currently enjoying a fabulous Welcome Reception in the event marquee at Kinsale Yacht Club. With great wines and a delicious array of canapes on offer its the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and catch up with friends before battle commences at noon tomorrow.

Today the Race Committee ran a single practise race to check their systems and give the competitors a chance to familiarise themselves with the race area. There was a certain amount of dipping in and out of the race with Anatoly Loginov in RUS27, leading for much of the race before pulling out on the final lap. Ultimately David Atkinson’s GBR690 Blue Movie claimed the overall and Corinthian victor’s laurels with Klaus Diederich’s GBR758 Fever second, Poul Richard Hoj-Jensen’s GBR775 Danish Blue third, Gavia Wilkinson-Cox’s GBR761 Jerboa fourth and Simon Brien’s IRL214 KIN fifth.
