Yes Campers, following the success last weekend of the Match Racing, the Club Naval de Cascais now present their 5th Winter Series event which starts tomorrow… In the lead up to their main Grade 1 Regatta the Juan Carlos Trophy in April, more “New Boats” have arrived. Not only do we have many new boats here but also the quality of Teams are amazing. To name some but not all, we have the current World runner up Frank Berg at the helm of Jens Christensens new Petticrow. Then another World runner up, Uli Libor joins the fleet! Unwrapping another new Petticrow is former World Champion Tommy Muller and his Bavarian Dream Team (who i hope find the fleet racing easier than their Match Race attempt last w/e… 🙂
Jens Rathsack will be here again to race his new Petticrow “Jeanie”, (MON 2). Also amoung the fleet RUS 76 returns to see if Dmitry can add to his 2 regatta wins earlier in the year. Then of course we have the famous RUS 27 with Anatoly Loginov at the helm.. Yes so many stars of our wonderful class here to prepare for the Grade 1 event. Another “Dark Horse” and a boat to look out for this w/e is Match Race Champion and former Dutch Open Champion, Pieter Heerama who with Theis Palm (another former World Champion), will take some beating after a full week of regatta preparation…..
With the normal local Portuguese boats fighting to keep the local reputation intact we also see former Olympian Patrick de Barros back in the mix, helming his beautiful cold moulded Dragon with an excellent crew. Yes Campers and Dragon Sailors all over the World, Cascais is the place to be…… Of course if you are not here, you can read all about day by day happenings…. Keep your keen eyes focused on the “Stavros” IDA Blog, as I whitness first hand all the races in this who’s who of a Dragon Fleet…………………..
