Winner of 2 races FRA 401 Gerry Trentesaux the 2017 French Champion is currently 2nd overall.
There has been a wonderful atmosphere here in Deauville ever since all 32 teams arrived on Wednesday 13th anticipating a very competitive 2018 French Championship. With the 2017 European Champion Pedro Andrade setting the pace, both the current French Champion Gerry Trentesaux and the Legendary Danish Double Olympic Gold Medalist Poul-Richard Hoj-Jensen have responded well… After 4 completed races allowing for one discard, Pedro leads on 7pts, with both Gerry and Poul-Richard on 9pts.
POR 71 Pedro Andrade leads overall after 4 races. With Charles Nankin & Christian Gianni.
Pedro is sailing his new V6 with his European Champion crew Charles Nankin and newcomer to the class from America Christian Giannini who has raced Stars, Etchells and variety of bigger boats. Its great to meet new sailors and welcome them into our fantastic class. Another new boat here in Deauville is a beautiful Doomernik FRA 415 owned and helmed by Aude Bosvieux, I spoke tonight with Joop Doomernik who told me he has 3 new boats on order (one of which is all glass-fibre), which is brilliant news for this talented Dutch builder who also builds the Mini Wally Nano as he continues to excel with his wooden expertise.
Proud owner of FRA 415 Aude Bosvieux with her beautiful Doomernik
I must say Deauville Yacht Club President “Mousier Eric Lebon” has done an excellent job in keeping this great venue alive and for the last 5 yrs is thankful for the backing of main sponsor Linkers. This Management and Asset Company run by Philippe Delecourt, support medium size new Enterprises to help with external growth and investments. A big thank you from all the Dragon Sailors Philippe, without you sponsors events such as this simply cannot happen…..
We now have one more day to complete this 4 day event and although we could not race today because of no wind, the spirits are high and everyone is looking forward to an exciting final day.
The “Man” Poul-Richard Hoj-Jensen with Theis Palm & Hamish Mackay, currently 3rd overall.
So fellow sailors its all on tomorrow, can Pedro Andrade keep both Gerry and Poul-Richard behind, or will someone from the chasing pack come out of the blue to sneak the French Championship Title… ??
Deauville Yacht Club President Eric Lebon with partner Muriel & Aurore Declerck
We thank you Deauville Yacht Club for this excellent event……
