Another two races were completed yesterday in sunny Deauville, as the wind dropped to 6 to 8 kts and the shifts came from the shore. The first race was won by NED 318 “Gollywog” helmed by Gerrard Laamens, crewed by Just Zandhuis and Dees Zonje who put their faith in the left hand side of the course on the final beat to reap the rewards of the final shift.
Race two was won by overall leaders GBR 771 “Finito” helmed by Martin Payne, crewed by Dominic and Olivier Bakker who managed to keep both sides of the race course covered with more luck than judgement 🙂
Payne and his team celebrate their 4th victory knowing they cannot be beaten with just one final race to be sailed today. So the fight is on for the three closest boats NED 318, GBR 633 and ITA 62 as to who will take the remaining podium positions.
All the competitors and guest were entertained last night at the formal dinner in the magnificent surrounds of the Hotel de Golf Barriere’ . Bag Pipes were played to call the guests into the Hotel, as they are also played each day as the Dragons leave the marina.
With stronger winds forecast again today, it will be a great end to this 7 race series which has been very well organised by the Deauville Yacht Club.
