Roller Coaster Ride for RUS 76 as they win the 4th Winter Series in Cascais, Portugal.
With a very strong wind forecast for the 4th Winter Series in Cascais it was not surprising only 2 races could be completed for the 13 competitive teams.
A great start in the 4th Cascais Winter Series, as POR 66 “Drago” wins the PIN …….
Friday was cancelled due to an increasing wind and Sunday was a complete “non starter” with winds up to 59 kts !! So it all came down to some fantastic exciting sailing and testing seamanship on Saturday……

Dmitry Samokhin fresh from his recent “Holiday” in Thailand showed excellent boat control and usual strong tactics to win both races with his powerful crew Aleksey Bushuev and superb middle man Andrey Kirilyuk.

In 2nd place overall was the GER 1123 “Pow Wow” team with Michael Zankel at the helm, Pedro Andrade in the middle and Nuno Baretto in the front….

In 3rd place overall was Javier Scherk helming ESP 71 “Gunter” here you can see Javier surfing downwind with his crew Diogo Barros & Paulo Manso… who is the one wearing the brown trousers 🙂

Top “Corinthian” team was POR 57 “Whisper” helmed by Class President Mario Quina, with his top team Pedro Costa Alemao & Fernado Passeiro. Mario Quina and his Corinthian Team at the Prize Giving of 4th Winter Series in Cascais.
So now all eyes turn to Cannes for the first Grade 1 event of 2016…. with 50 boats anticipated it should be a fantastic event… 24th to 27th Feb. Then the focus switches back to Cascais for the 5th Winter Series 11th to 13th March.For those of you not yet involved, how about starting at the Italian National Championships in San Remo 17th to 20th March ?? Spoilt for choice ??
