The most perfect sailing day in the middle of March was enhanced for the 20 strong Dragon Fleet here in Cascais, by numerous Dolphins celebrating their joy at having these large white hull’s to play with… Not only did the sun shine (20 degree’s), and the normal North Westerly blow in from the Atlantic, but the lucky sailors taking part in the 5th Cascais Winter Series were entertained by these fantastic fish that have such skill and precision to swim so close to the boats. Nearly close enough to touch……..
So after the two excellent races, competitors returned to their moorings very happy with the days experience. The local brothers Francisco and Vicente’ P. Melo POR 46 lead the fleet after recording a 1st and a 4th, closely followed by the “Bavarian Dream Team” GER 10 with a 1st and a 5th. However, with three races planned for today, many boats and places will be changing as the competition, as always, is of the highest standard… So lets see what today brings, the sun will shine for sure..
With the Grade 1 Juan Carlos Trophy just two weeks away, this 7 series event gives the sailors here from 8 different Countries the opportunity to get used to the big rolling waves and the strong tidal surges that sweep from time to time towards the magnificent city of Lisbon. A truly great place to sail.
Thank you for taking part of this while i´m sitting here in Berlin in cold wheather. If you see Udo Pflueger (my husband) give him lots of greetings. I wish all of you a great competition! Best regards Susanne
