UAE 7 takes the winners gun in the final race yesterday of the Dragon Europeans in Bastad
Winners of the Corinthian Sailors was SWE 354 helmed by Anders Liljeblad, crewed by Joakim Persson and Fredrik Persson who are new to the Dragon Circuit after being extremely successful in both the 470 and Star Classes.
Top Corinthians, the Persson Brothers with Anders Liljeblad, celebrate their success.
Not only did this new and exciting team win the Corinthians, but they also finished in 4th position overall in this extremely competitive field.
In 2nd place overall winning the Silver Medals and runner’s up to Yevgenyi was the vastly experienced team, also from Dubai, UAE 20 helmed by Hendrik Witzmann, crewed by Theis Palm and Markus Koy. The final podium position winning the Bronze Medals were the great RUS 27 team, Anatoly Loginov, Vadim Statsenko and Alexander Shalagin who had a great final day recording a 1st and 4th place. Well done!
It was a super final day that saw two more races completed to finish the series with a total of 6 good quality, well organised races. So very many congratulations go to the Race Office Team of Annika Ekman and Morgan Sunden. Also the organisers “Sailing Bastad” deserve a special mention as their leaders Pekko Svesson and Hans Ramne organised everything brilliantly both on and off the water…. From the first class social events & apres beers to the well drilled and efficient craning out, all was of the highest standard…
Craning out was efficient and effective with three cranes and lots of activity…
Boats were cleaned then quickly moved to the de-rigging area, with plenty of space.
This was a fantastic Championship run by an excellent organisation.
Won by an amazing team ……… So can Yevgenyi do the Treble ??
That question will be answered in Kuhlungsborn, one thing though is for sure, they were….
