Dragon Class Centenary Website Launched Ahead of 2029 Celebration

The first digital presence for the International Dragon Class Centenary has now been launched, marking the beginning of the journey towards a historic celebration in 2029.

In 2029, the International Dragon Class will mark its centenary. Conceived in Sweden and brought to life by Norwegian designer Johan Anker, the class has thrived for a century across the Nordic countries and beyond.

Welcome to the Regatta of the Century

The centenary celebration will take place from 23–29 June 2029 in Marstrand, Sweden.

The Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club and the Swedish Dragon Association invite Dragon sailors from around the world to join this historic event in the spiritual home waters of the class.

On the water

At Midsummer, Marstrand offers world-class racing conditions, with reliable westerly winds, long daylight hours and a racing area shaped by the meeting of open sea and archipelago.

The regatta will feature a varied and inclusive racing format, combining high-level fleet racing with opportunities to recognise Classic Dragons and encourage broader participation across the fleet.

Off the water

Marstrand offers a compact and vibrant regatta setting, with accommodation, restaurants and social venues within easy reach.

The social programme is planned to be an important part of the celebration, bringing together competitors, families, guests and friends of the Dragon Class.
