It’s 09.20 here in Cowes and right now the teams are preparing for the final day of racing at the UK South Coast Championship and readying themselves for the Edinburgh Cup, supported by Aberdeen Asset Management, which gets underway tomorrow and runs until Saturday.
The forecast for today is for a south westerly wind, initially at around 10-12 knots and hopefully building as the land warms up and we get some sea breeze. Potentially it could get up to 25 knots plus if the Met Office forecast is to be believed. Currently we have some cloud cover and Bramblemet is giving a mean wind speed of 12.4 knots from the South West (reassuringly in line with the forecast). Already the cloud cover is lifting and with luck by the time racing gets underway we should have some nice sunny spells.
In the overall standings Poul Richard Hoj Jensen, sailing Danish Blue, is leading the regatta on 11 points with Len Jones in Rumours second on 16 points and Mikhail Muratov sailing Murka 8 in third on 21 points. Gavia Wilkinson-Cox sailing Jerboa and Quentin Strauss’s Gorgeous Worgeous, being helmed by Jamie Lead, are tied on 23 points with Jerboa currently holding fourth place on count back.
With six races now completed in the eight race series we have just two more races to come to finish the series. With luck we should be off on time and we’ll bring you updates and race results as soon as we can during the day.
