This weekend will see the 2nd edition of the Dragons Invitational in Venice. The Compagnia della Vela and the Vento di Venezia Yacht Clubs will host 8 of the top International teams of the Dragon Class to race in the San Marco Basin. The event will open on Friday with fleet racing in front of San Marco, followed by “round robins” of team racing with individual pairs.

Giovanni Giusto is the City Councillor to Protection of Traditions, Adolfo Villani, is the President FIV of the XII Zone, Ugo Campaner, is the President of the Compagnia della Vela. Klaus Diederichs is the principal organiser and Alberto Sonio is the CEO of the Vento di Venezia.
The regatta is sponsored by DFS, Glenfiddich and ASSIDUE-Agenzia UnipolSai di Treviso. Amongst the participating International teams are Dmitry Samokhin from Russia, Hendrik Witzmann representing United Arab Emirates, the former World Champion Klaus Diederichs from the UK, along with the current Asian Champion Tam Nguyen from Hong Kong and 4 times Italian National Champion Giuseppe Duca (the Local Venice Hero). 🙂

This years top prize has been kindly donated by Linea Murano Art and will be awarded to the team that accumulate the most numbers of points, from their individual pairs wins…
The “Dragons in Venice Invitational” top prize will be awarded on Sunday to the winning team.
Principal organiser Klaus Diederichs said “It is fantastic to come back to Venice with the Dragons. The elegance of the boats and the beauty of the city are a perfect fit. I am looking forward to some close racing in front of this magnificent scenery”.
