The Beautiful Lake Thun is the venue for the 2017 European Championships, Aug 14-19.
Lake Thun and the picturesque town of Thun is set high in the Swiss Mountains (approximately 500 metres above sea level), next to Bern the capital of Switzerland. The 2017 European Championships will be a fantastic opportunity for Dragon Sailors to experience flat, fresh water conditions which offer ideal sailing whilst overlooked by the famous Alpine peaks of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau…..

Our Principle Race Officer will be Bruno Barthlome’ who was born in Bern and has the experience of running 7 European and Swiss National Championships in Finn, 5.5m, Stars and the Dragon Class. His expertise will enhance the enjoyment for all that attend as the “Thunersee-Yacht Club” put together a wonderful itinerary both on and off the water…
The opening Reception will be held in the famous Thun “Square” overlooked by Thun Castle.
With the Swiss Nationals the week before, competitors have the opportunity to test out the conditions, source the fine restaurants and enjoy the complete ambiance offered in this magical part of the world….
The Castle of Thun will overlook the Opening Ceremony of the European Championships.
Competitors have a detailed list of accommodation that can be booked through the Tourist Office, at email : info@interlaken-jungfrau.ch
They will not only help you to choose accommodation, but also book it. So if you want to experience a fantastic week or two in Switzerland during August.. Make it Lake Thun… You will not be disappointed.
