Yes Camper’s, after a short lay-off 65 Dragons will be racing in Austria for the 2012 European Title, whilst around 50+ boats will test their skills on the beautiful west coast of France in La Baule… I am sure you will find regular up-dates from Austria on this main Home Page, whilst I will endeavour to bring you all the action from one of my favourite sailing venues in France. La Baule is a Century-old seaside resort in Southern Brittany, boasting the longest golden beach in Europe that stretches 12km’s and is home to many French high society’s seaside residences… It’s Harbour can only be entered and exited at half-tide and above, similar to Deauville. Only that La Baule has a ledge that retains the water, whilst Deauville relies on a Man-Made Lock….
My first trip to La Baule was over 10 years ago when I had the pleasure of sailing with Poul-Richard Hoj-Jensen, in those days none of his crew were allowed to touch any ropes! We both had to just hike hard and tell a few jokes to keep “The Man” happy.. 🙂 Needless to say we won that year despite some excellent close races against many talented locals. These day’s I believe PR does allow his crew to pull the odd rope or two, as most of his energy is required for his house and garden re-building work out in his Antigua Home….!
So keep checking this “Home Page” on our IDA web site and find out who will become the European Champion and who takes the La Baule Title….of 2012.
