Beautiful Imperia will host the Italian Nationals 3-6 September.
As we begin School Holidays and precious “Family” time for many Dragon Sailors all over the World, it’s an ideal opportunity to look ahead and make plans for future racing on the International Circuit. This weekend will see the Swedish Nationals in Marstrand, which coincides with a Dragon Classic regatta in Flensburg 6-11th Aug. Also the Estonian Fleet will have their Nationals 12-14th Aug in Parnu (the venue for 2024 Europeans). Although, as we lead up to the prestigious Gold Cup many teams may opt to sail the Belgium Nationals 13-16th to get a feel for the conditions prior to the big event.
The Dragon Gold Cup 21-26th August in Ostend, Belgium Nationals 13-16th.
The Royal North Sea Yacht Club will host this years Gold Cup in Ostend with many sponsors backing this great event. Organisers and local sailors will welcome Dragon Sailors to join in the fun and competitive racing. Ostend has lots to offer with sandy beaches, bars and restaurants to entertain one and all, plus a great Race Management Team led by Nino Shmueli & Dirk Sledsens to set perfect “Gold Cup” 12nm courses on the challenging North Sea.
After the Gold Cup why not consider joining the ever building Irish Fleet in Dublin for their National Championships 1st-4th September… Or maybe make your way south to Imperia, for the Italian National Championships. The IDA are always keen to support new venues and Yacht Club Imperia’s President Biagio Parlatore welcomes all participants to join them 3rd-6th September.
Imperia from Wolf Waschkuhn’s home
Those that visit Imperia will be invited to join our current European Champion Wolf Waschkuhn at his home for the main reception gathering… Certainly a party not to be missed!
I hope these few words encourage fellow Dragon Sailors to re-think their plans and help boost numbers at these attractive venues… One thing is for sure, our class is alive and kicking with so many options and many more events to come later in the year.
