The first winter series starts this weekend in Portugal, whilst many French Sailors and the current World Champion will visit the wonderful lake Cazaux near to Arcachon. I shall be joining in the fun in Cascais and many strong teams will be arriving from Germany, Russia, Sweden, Great Britain and Denmark to take up the challenge in this spectacular sailing venue against a very strong Portuguese Fleet.. This winter the numbers may reach between 40 to 50 boats, as European Dragon Owners elect to test their skills against the best. Anatoloy Loginov will be there, Jens Christensen (the current European Champion) will arrive with his new Petticrow before Xmas and Hoesch and Payne will battle it out each month and continue to argue as to who is not only the best but the oldest….. 🙂
Meanwhile in Lake Cazaux the very best French Sailors will do their best to keep Tim Tavinor (who will be racing my boat “Hombre’) behind them. But Tim has already won the Belgium Nationals this year and since crewing aboard the winning boat at the Worlds in Australia, has really gone from strength to strength. So Remy Arnaud and Jean Breger will have to be at the top of their game to beat him……….. I am sure my good friend and top International Race Officer Yves Leglese will keep everyone in order and give the 30 to 40 boat fleet some excellent racing over the Sat 29th, Sun30th, Mon 31st & Tues 1st Nov.
So Campers where will you be ? France or Portugal… Higher, Faster, Longer… Stavros.
