Jamie Lea, Klaus Diederichs and Diego Negri with the fantastic Marblehead Trophy.
The prestigious Marblehead Trophy was competed for by 18 top International Dragon Teams in Skovshoved, Denmark 24th-26th May and was superbly won by GBR 819 “Fever” Klaus Diederichs, Diego Negri & Jamie Lea. Please read the full report below.
Many thanks Gregor for that excellent report and it’s very exciting to know the next Yacht Club to host this historic trophy will be the Compagnia della Vela in Venice, northern Italy. This famous club was the “Challenger of Record” for the 1992 America’s Cup, where they were represented by their team II Moro di Venezia and won the 1992 Louis Vuitton Cup!
Winning helm Klaus Diederichs told me “Unfortunately, no sailing pictures as the photographer arrived on the last day when we could not race, so 5 races were completed out of the 8 scheduled. We were delighted to win the regatta by just 1 point from Defending Champion Jens Christensen of the Royal Danish Yacht Club and 6 points ahead of Martin Palsson from Marstrand, Sweden.”
So now this amazing competition will move to Venice in 2023 with Klaus possibly selecting a date in late September between the Regattes Royales and Torbole’, to be confirmed soon.
