33 Dragons are racing in San Remo at the Italian National Championships 17-20 March.
Marcus Wieser helming UAE 7 “Bunker Queen” is leading the fleet by 9 points after 3 races here in San Remo. After recording a 3rd place on day one, Marcus and his crew of Sergey Pugachev and Diego Negri sailed brilliantly yesterday to finish 2nd and 1st. So they top the leader board on 6 points.

In 2nd place overall is Michael Schmidt helming GER 1157 “M3” crewed by Malte Philipp and Mario Wagner who are currently on 15 points after recording 7th, 4th & 4th in this top field of International Sailors. Michael and his team won the Regates Royal in Cannes on their last outing so they are keen to add another title to their list 🙂
3rd overall and just one point further back are RUS 27 “Anapurna” helmed by Anatoly Loginov, crewed by Vadim Statsenko and Alexander Shalagin. This very consistent team are always tough to beat and will be a certain threat to Marcus for the overall title….
SWE 389 are currently the Top “Corinthian” team, leading a field of 15 Corinthian Boats.
Karl Gustav Lohr, Jasper Bendix & Kristensen Klavs Bruun, are leading the Corinthian Sailors in SWE 389 “High Times” and are currently 8th overall. The leading “Italian” team are ITA 56 “Cloud” helmed by Giuseppe Duca, crewed by Jean Sebastian Ponce and Vittorio Zaoli, currently 9th overall.

At least 2 more races are planned for today and with a forecast of a building westerly wind it should be another really nice sailing day in the sunshine of San Remo….
