The wait was well worth it for the competitors at the 2011 Dragons European Championship in Boltenhagen today as the PROs postponement until mid afternoon enabled a very nice breeze to fill in giving the teams an excellent sixth race.
Reigning Champion Markus Wieser went into the race with the single goal of victory and that determination paid off as he not only won the race but also now leads the championship overall by two points from Martin Paisson. Two further points behind Paisson is Jen Christensen and fourth place is filled by Tommy Mueller who is a further five points adrift. Any of these four boats has the ability to win the championship so tomorrow’s final race promises to be a thrilling showdown.
Whilst Paisson has been knocked from the top spot in the overall competition he retains the lead in the Corinthian Division where Kerstin Beucke is lying second and Luc Pillot is third. The Corinthian teams have been very strong at this regatta and Beucke is currently lying 9th overall with Pillot 12th.
