NOTE to Sail Makers concerning MATERIALS in SAIL BATTENS
The International Dragon Association Technical Committee received an enquiry asking if sail battens may be made of, or may contain, carbon fibres. The answer is: No!
Sail battens are part of the BOAT, as defined in Class Rule 1.11 and the WS ERS. Any materials which may be used in the construction of the BOAT are specified in the ” List of Permitted Materials” and the relevant Class Rules. Carbon fibres are not listed.
