Pieter Heerema, George Leonchuk and Lars Hedriksen Victorious in Denmark.
In the most perfect sailing conditions on the final day the 35 teams representing 13 Nations finished the Grade 1 Danish Grand Prix with two excellent races. A windward, leeward course of 1.9 nautical miles gave this highly competitive fleet the opportunity to see “Dragor” (situated by the magnificent “Oresund” bridge that link’s Denmark to Sweden) at its very best.
The 5th race (first of the day on Sunday) was won by SWE 375 helmed by Martin Palsson who is currently the holder of the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish National titles! Quite an achievement and many congratulations.
SWE 375 Martin Palsson, Gusta Gardebaeck & Thomas Wallenfeldt win Race 5 in Dragor.
Then the final “Race 6” was a battle between NED 412 and FRA 401 to see who would lift the overall trophy. Not realising they were holding a 5 point lead, NED 412 thought they had lost their opportunity after FRA 401 took the line honours just ahead of RUS 76. However, 3rd place was enough for NED 412 to win by 2 points and gave Pieter, Lars & George the overall championship.
Gerry Trentesaux won Race 6 but had to settle for the runners up spot in FRA 401
This was another excellent regatta for Gerry Trentesaux who originates from multiple Yachting success and his team of Eric Brezellec, Jean Queveau and Christian Ponthieu. Many congratulations to FRA 401.
FRA 401 leads the fleet at the bottom gate in the final race in Dragor, Denmark.
Also having another great series were the ever popular and well respected team from RUS 76 who finished just ahead of GER 1205 Otto Pohlmann.
RUS 76 Alexsey Bushuev, Dmitry Samokhin & Andrey Kirilyuk 3rd Overall in Dragor.
So there we have it, another Grade 1 over and 3 worthy podium teams who raced well in a variety of conditions during this well organised 4 day regatta. Race Officer Kim Pedersen set excellent courses, backed up by a host of Dragor Sailing Club volunteers. Club representative Mik Jensen thanked all the helpers and competitors for making this such a memorable regatta and congratulated the podium sailors….
