On Course for Helsinki 2026: Meet NJK

The 2026 Dragon European Championship will be hosted by Nyländska Jaktklubben (NJK), one of the Nordic region’s most respected and historic yacht clubs.

Founded in 1861, NJK has played a central role in Finnish sailing for more than 160 years and has earned an international reputation for organising high-quality regattas across a wide range of classes.

With its strong connection to Helsinki’s maritime culture and Baltic sailing traditions, the club has long been associated with competitive keelboat racing at the highest level. Today, NJK remains one of the leading centres for sailing in Finland and an important part of the international Dragon community.

For Dragon sailors, Helsinki and NJK are already familiar names. The club has previously hosted major Dragon championships, including the 2018 Dragon Gold Cup, and continues to play an important role in Nordic Dragon sailing.

The championship will be centred around NJK’s distinctive Blekholmen clubhouse, located on a small island in Helsinki’s South Harbour. Just minutes from the city centre, the venue offers competitors and visitors a unique combination of championship racing and immediate access to one of Northern Europe’s great waterfront capitals.

Surrounded by the islands of the Helsinki archipelago, the venue provides a spectacular setting for Dragon racing, combining tactical Baltic conditions with the atmosphere of a major international sailing event.

With its experienced organising team, strong sailing heritage and outstanding location, NJK provides a fitting home for the 2026 Dragon European Championship.

As preparations continue, the International Dragon Association looks forward to working closely with the NJK team in welcoming the international Dragon fleet back to Helsinki.
