Dmitry Samokhin, with Alexsey Bushuev & Andrey Kirilyuk on their new V6 Petticrows.
It was fantastic sailing day in the beautiful bay of Douarnenez yesterday as the 31 Dragons enjoyed 2 short races to begin the 2017 Grand Prix Guyader.
Leading the fleet overall after a 2nd & 1st, is RUS 76 “Rocknrolla” the new boat of Dmitry Samokhin who proved that all you need to do with the new V6 Petticrows is to take it out of the wrapper’s and go sailing 🙂
Dmitry lets the Champagne flow as his new Petticrows is launched in Douarnenez….
It was also good to see “The Man” (Poul-Richard Hoj-jensen) back at the front of the fleet, as he always likes to support this special event created by the great Louis Urvois. Sailing with Katie Cole and Andrew “Noddy” Norden the Man followed up his victory in race 1 with a 5th in race 2 putting him 2nd overall behind Dmitry.
Also sailing very well was FRA 401 helmed by Gery Trentesaux, crewed by Eric Brezellec, Jean Queveau and Christian Ponthieu. This 4 man team recorded a 4th & 3rd place so are currently 3rd overall after the 2 races.
To be honest the courses were a little too short, as the first beat of just 1 mile meant there were a few nasty collisions at the top mark. However, I am sure today we will see the course lengthened to a more sensible distance of around 1.5 miles to accommodate this competitive fleet.
