Loads of interest on the Dragon stand at Gothenburg Boat Show. Martin Palsson, answers questions.
There was much interest around the brand new Petticrows V6.1 at the boat show in Gothenburg, as the Swedish Dragon Association and some of their members promote the 2021 Gold Cup. Martin Palsson and friends were amongst the organisers as the Swedish Dragon Class continues to grow and look forward to hosting this most prestigious championship in Marstrand next year.
Petticrows V6.1 one of the “highlights” at Gothenburg Boat Show.
With around 10 additional Dragons joining the Swedish Fleet last year, there is no doubt the class is becoming more popular. To that end the Swedish Dragon Association are increasing their sailing program with a “Multi” National event in June 12-14 at Marstrand. At this event, all three National Championships will take place for the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian Fleets! This will rotate to Denmark and Norway in future years……The idea of combining all three National Championships into one regatta is to see “hopefully “ a 30 to 40 boat fleet compete for the major honours. So the highest placed boat from each of the three Nations will be their National Champion for 2020.
The official Gold Cup logo for the 2021 Gold Cup in Marstrand.
In addition this season the Nordic Cup will be awarded to the best team after 3 combined events:
In Denmark 8-10 May, Sweden 12-14 June & in Norway 25th-28 June.
So lots going on up in Northern Europe this season let’s hope many of the teams competing in the Nordic Cup will also support the Irish Fleet for this year’s Gold Cup in Kinsale…. 5th to 11th September.
I will be meeting with the Kinsale Yacht Club Organisers in April so will post a more informative Blog on the 2020 Gold Cup soon….
