The Club Naval de Cascais held their 2nd winter series event last weekend in glorious sunny conditions with an easterly wind of 10 to 15 kts. Although only 10 boats took part, the fleet will now begin to grow steadily in preparation for the Grade 1 Juan Carlos Trophy early March of 2014.

The winning team, sailing POR 57 “Whisper” was helmed by owner Mario Quina and crewed by Vicente’ and Pedro (pictured above). Mario has put in a great deal of time & effort over the last 20 years to help put this wonderful sailing venue on the map. His Petticrow boat “Whisper” is from the Mick Cotter (Ireland) stable and has a long and successful history. Well done.

In 2nd place overall was the “Tigger” Team, with owner and the new IDA Secretary Thomas Wilton crewing for Top Dutch helm Andre’ du Pont. Also aboard the Tigger team was Petticrow’s owner Tim Tavinor ….. In 3rd place was SWE 385 “Still Crazy” helmed by Stefan Winberg, crewed by Thomas Gross and Markus Lagerquist.

The 3rd winter series and final Dragon event of 2013 will take place in Cascais over the weekend of Dec 13th to 15th. Where more than 20 boats are expected to participate before the Xmas festivities begin 🙂

2014 is set to be an amazing year kicking off with the first Grade 1 event down in Australia (early Jan).  Whilst the postponed event in Imperia will now take place on Jan 4th/5th. Then over to Cascais for the 4th winter series Jan 10-12. Andora again in Italy will host a “new” event 18th & 19th followed by the traditional “Ski Vol” in Juan la Pins 24th-26th….
